Bytebot
Open-source desktop agent that gets its own Linux computer and completes tasks by clicking, typing and using apps
Bytebot is an open-source desktop agent that gives an AI model its own computer. You describe a task in plain English, and it works inside a containerized Linux desktop, moving the mouse, typing and clicking through a browser, terminal, code editor and other apps until the job is done or it needs help.
Key features:
- Full desktop with browser, file system, password manager, terminal and code editor.
- Any extra application can be installed.
- Multi-app workflows such as 2FA logins with Bitwarden, dev setup in a terminal and VS Code, or PDF research.
- Screenshots before and after every action for review.
- Users can take over the desktop at any point and then hand control back.
- Works with any software, as an alternative to scripted RPA.
Bytebot is open source and self-hosted: it runs locally with Docker Compose, deploys on Railway, or runs on AWS, GCP or Azure, and scales from one agent to many in parallel. It is free to use, with costs coming from your own infrastructure and model provider.
