Smithery
Public registry of MCP servers that agents can discover and connect to
Smithery is a registry of Model Context Protocol servers that lets developers find tools and services for their agents. It has also offered hosted connections that handled authentication, credentials and sessions, but its MCP proxy, managed identity, API and accounts shut down on October 31, after which smithery.ai remains a public MCP registry.
Key features:
- Browse thousands of MCP servers with descriptions and usage counts.
- Find servers such as Exa Search, Context7 and OneSignal for agents.
- Discover community-built servers for news, hiring, commerce and data.
- Publish an MCP server to the registry for distribution.
- Connect servers from MCP clients such as Cursor and Claude Desktop.
Until the shutdown, the hosted service had a free Hobby plan with 50K RPCs a month and a $10/month pay-as-you-go plan with managed OAuth and persistent connections. Brand data says Smithery is now part of Arcade.dev; the registry stays free to browse.
